The Flint Lensmen Camera Club

Everybody Welcome. Come join the activities, field trips, competitions

This club was founded in 1946. present members are comprised of amateurs, professionals and everything in between.

The Flint Lensmen Camera Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month September through May, unless otherwise announced. Occasionally we meet other times for field trips, lessons, get-together's, etc. We are now meeting at Faith Lutheran Church 12534 Holly Rd Grand Blanc, Mi 48439. If you would like to contact us, please use the email on the right side of this page.  If you would like to attend we meet from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Please be there at or before 6:30, it is required that we lock the doors, if you will be late please send an email ahead of time so someone can be at the door when you arrive.

*Note: if the weather is bad, check the radio and/or TV for school closings. We will not have a meeting if schools are closed.

Hi All

The Crim Photo Links for August 2025 will be added soon. If you know someone that participated in any of the races or events, or was just there to watch and enjoy the festival, please let them know to look through the photos. There could be one or more of them at the event. First meeting of the new season will be September 4th. Hope to see everyone there.

Since I can't post a slide show here anymore please go to our Facebook page to see the months photos. 

"Flint Lensmen Camera Club Face Book Page". Everyone is encouraged to join. You will be kept up to date on activities and events as well as training opportunities.  You won't be able to post on this site "website" unless you are a paid dues member. $20  a year. Please visit. We will be planning new and exciting learning events and photo trips. Must have dues paid to date to participate. Some great places for great photo taking opportunities.

With each month comes the challenge of photos for the month. Along with photos for the other categories listed below.

Maybe this year we can start an "Our Community" photo challenge that can be something of interest and will probably be a season long project.

Dues for 2025 will need to be paid before first of the year. Remember dues were lowered to just $20 a year.

You don't need to be a member to attend meetings. 

You do need to be a paid member to have photos in the monthly photo viewing, and post on this site.

2025 dues are due now till end of 2024. Those that have not paid by then will remain on the website for a few months before being removed from the members list.  

               As mentioned in the Welcome column to the left we                   

 meet at Faith Lutheran Church in  Grand Blanc,12534 Holly Rd.

Members feel free to utilize the website to post photos. All photo post will need to be approved by an Administrator. Non-members can visit and contact us through the website address in the contact section to the right. You do not need to be an annual paying member to attend meetings. All are welcome.

You will need to be a paid member to utilize the website.

Lensmen Meetings

                                               

Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays September through May. 

at Faith Lutheran Church 12534 Holly Rd Grand Blanc, Mi 48439

Park and enter through the doors in the back of the building. First room to the left. (Window left of the entrance doors)

Starting at 6:30 pm and lasting till around 8:00/8:30. First meeting of the month is usually an activity night with members doing demonstrations or lessons  on or about editing, suggestions for photo trips and photo taking tips/ideas. These events and activities as well as field/photo trips will also be listed on the new Facebook page.

Second meeting is photo review everyone brings photos that they would like to share or suggestions for. Photo of the month category and from any of the photo categories listed in the section below.

You do not need to be a member to attend meetings.

You do need to be a member to enter photos in the monthly photo review. 

Competition Subjects

Competition subjects for the 2025/26 year. 2nd meetings of the month

  • September 18: -- Black & White
  • October 16:     -- Leading Lines 
  • November 20:  -- Water
  • December 18:  -- Colors
  • January 15:      -- Shadows
  • February 19:    -- Shoes
  • March 19:        --  Sunsets/rises
  • April 16:          -- Macro     
  • May 21:           --  Curves   

Competition Criteria: You can enter photos in each  category, or just a few:  Try to keep to around 5 per category or 35 total from 1 or a few categories.

Repeating Monthly Subjects

  Subject of the month, Open, Nature, Modified,          [Monochrome (black & white)], exhibition & cell phone

Photos in each category must match that categories NAME

Any 'altered more than simple post editing' photos should be entered in the Open or Modified categories. This does not mean normal post editing like exposure, contrast, shadow, highlight, tone, misc. This would be photos that are comprised of more than one or merged items, or extremely altered.

Training and discussion topics for the 1st meetings of the month.


We no longer have a monthly competition. It is a photo Viewing and critic  with helpful suggestions and input. It allows members to see the creativeness of other members, presenter is encouraged to elaborate on their photos but not required (((what inspired them to take the photo, where, when why & how. Any procedures, special equipment used to take the photo))). Others present are encouraged to give helpful tips to improve their work and to question and learn new technics and methods of taking as well as editing their own photos. Members are ask to bring their photos on a thumb drive to the 2nd meeting of the month (3rd Thurs), they are loaded to the club laptop for viewing. Photos need to be grouped together by categories for ease of loading to computer.
